A new technology for you music lovers made by students from Goldsmiths University, London, Bruno Zamborlin in collaboration with Frederic Bevilacqua, Norbert Schnell, and a team of real-time music at IRCAM.
The name of this tool is Mogees, capable of anything affixed to the surface and turn it into a variety of voices to suit the wearer's punches.
The original idea stems from the desire to transform ordinary objects into percussion instruments.
Mogees currently uses two audio synthesis techniques. The first is the function on the physical modeling to simulate the propagation of sound waves of various materials such as voice, strings, membranes or pipe by using software called Modalys.
The second technique is the mosaicing, whereby the user to load the sound folder and then the audio comes from contact with the microphone. Then analyzed, and the software to find segments that resemble the sounds in the sound folder.
The point of this equipment is to convert sound vibrations into electrical.
Zamborlin according to Reuters, June 4 and that, "This software can distinguish a wide range of motion. So you can hit a wooden board with your fingers or you can swipe the glass window and the system will associate the movement with the sound of different instruments."
Zamborlin demonstrates the results of this work to the visitors at the pub where he lived, one customer said, "This is really exciting. But a little weird, because you touch everyday objects and you do not expect them to sound like a bell or other. It's cool and very nice . "
