A minor planet discovered by Chinese scientist named Yan Jici. Said the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Monday (28/5) quoted by Xinhua.
Yan Jici is well-known scientist and educator in China. He served as honorary chairman of the board of the central committee of the Jiu San Society, and vice chairman of the National Committee of the Sixth and Seventh People's Congress.
Yan is also a founding proponent University of Science and Technology, which is one of the leading universities in China. He died of illness in Beijing in 1996 at the age of 96 years.
The little planet known as No.10611 internationally, and was found by the Beijing Schmidt CCD Asteroid Program under the auspices of the National Astronomical Observations with the CAS in 1997. Then, as a tribute to Yan Jici, the planet was so named.
